Eagle Bluff - Shark Bay World Heritage Area
A Great way to spend Money
If the stromatolites could speak, I think they would be laughing at this.
Some Modern Additions
History in the Making
It takes a very very long time for these things to make any progress. Try another 60,000,000 years to see any changes here!
Shells are a way of Life
When concreted or "limed" together this was a great building tool, and also great dust suspression material. It is still used for that purpose today.
Postmaster's Residence - Hamelin Pool
The original residence is still standing, although extensively renovated and extended in recent years. I have spent many a night in here, most forgotten the morning after!
Hamlin Pool Weather Station
Every 3 hours, 7 days a week the readings had to be made in this Stevenson Screen. It dominated the live of all who lived at Hamelin Pool or the nearby homestead.
Choog-a Choog
This old engine used to power our air compressor. It was used regularly as punctures were a daily occurrence at Hamelin. It was a real bitch to start, so we left it to the Jackaroos to start when required. They nicknamed it "Choog-a choog" which was the sound it made when in full working order powering the single cylinder high capacity air ompressor attached to it.
