I have been to this place many times over the last 50 years. As a child we collected pearl shell from the reef in the background.
The Department of Conservation have been carrying out contolled burns in the pine forests North of Waneroo for some weeks. On these beautiful clear evenings it is disapointing to see the sky muddied by these fires, however on this occassion the colours were just too much to resist a shot!
An afternoon DEC burn-off in the Julimar forest to the East ensured a layer of smoke in the mid altitudes.

The high cloud drifting in the from the Northwest was coloured beautifully when the sun went below the horizon and shone upwards through the smoke.
Cape Freycinet is a spectacular place.
Facing the vast expanse of the Indian Ocean the waves and swells are legendary. The nearby Margaret River beaches are world famous for surfing.

Point Road is favourite place for a walk and was a fabulous place to camp.

The pool is teeming with small fish. Unfortunately they are "Telapia," and are an introduced species. The kids always had a great time catching them. Fishing with a reflection like this and the endless screetching of the galahs as they settle for the night add to the outback experience.
